Facility Executive features advantages of SWEP BPHEs in district energy applications

With a focus on the brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE) technology’s potential for providing optimized solutions in commercial and institutional buildings, this article provides a great overview of how BPHEs work in district heating and cooling applications.

This article was a collaboration between SWEP team members to show the advantages of BPHE technology compared to the older heat exchanger technologies (i.e. plate & frame, shell & tube, etc.).  The main benefits of BPHEs in district energy applications versus the older technologies include space savings, increased efficiency, lower life cycle costs, smaller carbon footprint, built-in redundancy with modular design, and lower fouling potential plus CIP (Cleaning-In-Place) capability.
